In this study it was used a test power network. The Automatic Voltage Regulator of the generating units, the Under Load Tap Changer and loads were modelled. The simulation was carried out using the professional grade time domain simulation software package Eurostag. Finally, some conclusions that provide a better understanding of the composite load models in the voltage collapse phenomena are pointed out.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></accession-num><call-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></call-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></notes><custom1><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom1><custom2><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom2><custom3><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom3><custom4><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom4><custom5><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom5><custom6><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom6><custom7><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom7><research-notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></research-notes><num-vols><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></num-vols><orig-pub><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></orig-pub><reprint-edition><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></reprint-edition><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></section><auth-address><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></auth-address><remote-database-name><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-name><remote-database-provider><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-provider><label><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></label><access-date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></access-date></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="6.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>47</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Carlos Machado Ferreira</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Fernando Maciel Barbosa</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Influence of the Transient Stability Performance Indices on a Contingency Screening and Ranking Algorithm</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Proceedings of the 44th International Universities Power Engineering Conference</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Power System Operation and Control</style></keyword><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Power system stability and control 2</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2009</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">September</style></date></pub-dates></dates><number><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></number><edition><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></edition><publisher><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></publisher><pub-location><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">University of Strathclyde</style></pub-location><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></pages><isbn><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></isbn><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">In this paper it will be studied the influence of the transient stability performance indices on a contingency screening and ranking algorithm. Due to the large number of contingencies scenarios and calculations required, it was applied a hybrid method to assess the system stability. The single dynamic security indices are obtained as a sub product of the hybrid method with a very reduce computing effort. The composed security indices are evaluated combining the single dynamic indices using weights. These indices are used to select, classify and rank the contingencies in accordance with the system security level.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></accession-num><call-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></call-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></notes><custom1><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom1><custom2><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom2><custom3><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom3><custom4><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom4><custom5><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom5><custom6><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom6><custom7><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom7><research-notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></research-notes><num-vols><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></num-vols><orig-pub><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></orig-pub><reprint-edition><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></reprint-edition><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></section><auth-address><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></auth-address><remote-database-name><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-name><remote-database-provider><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-provider><label><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></label><access-date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></access-date></record><record><source-app name="Biblio" version="6.x">Drupal-Biblio</source-app><ref-type>47</ref-type><contributors><authors><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Manuel Travassos Valdez</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Fernando Maciel Barbosa</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Carlos Machado Ferreira</style></author><author><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Cristina Faustino Agreira</style></author></authors></contributors><titles><title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">PBL implementation in an Lighting Design Course</style></title><secondary-title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Proceedings of the 44th International Universities Power Engineering Conference</style></secondary-title></titles><keywords><keyword><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Power engineering education</style></keyword></keywords><dates><year><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2009</style></year><pub-dates><date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">September</style></date></pub-dates></dates><number><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></number><edition><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></edition><publisher><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></publisher><pub-location><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">University of Strathclyde</style></pub-location><volume><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></volume><pages><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></pages><isbn><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></isbn><language><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">eng</style></language>
<style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">In the Lighting Design course students are presented with a virtual scenario, quite similar to the real world, where they are required to perform as they would in a real life situation. The emphasis is given to Problem-Based Learning (PBL) so that they can learn to become autonomous, skilled and explore their own potential as well as improve team work skills/spirit and that can be applied to a wide range of students and subject matters. PBL is introduced to the students as a learn by doing project. This study analyses the learning process/techniques that help students deal with the complexity of a Lighting Design Project and assesses its effectiveness and impact on the students. PBL was used as an instructional strategy of active learning, and adapted for use in Lighting Design course.</style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></accession-num><call-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></call-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></notes><custom1><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom1><custom2><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom2><custom3><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom3><custom4><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom4><custom5><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom5><custom6><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom6><custom7><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></custom7><research-notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></research-notes><num-vols><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></num-vols><orig-pub><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></orig-pub><reprint-edition><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></reprint-edition><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></section><auth-address><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></auth-address><remote-database-name><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-name><remote-database-provider><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></remote-database-provider><label><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></label><access-date><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%"></style></access-date></record></records></xml>
