Abstract

The paper aims at analysing the level of reliability of the integrated complex: diagnostic software-telecommunication system for automated power distribution systems. Different possible operational situations can take place. These take into account a failure both of the diagnostic software and of the telecommunication system and a delay in data transmission due to collision. For the analysis of the reliability, a probabilistic method has been used that evaluates the unsupplied energy for any possible condition. Moreover, after having synthetically described a new transmission protocol for wi-fi systems, the benefits introduced by the modification of the IEEE 802.11 are also evaluated using the probabilistic method in terms of reduction of the unsupplied energy.
