Abstract

Scope of this paper is to present a systematic investigation on the behavior of the modal propagation characteristics of underground SC cable configurations. The cable system impedances and admittances are calculated using a novel formulation which takes into account the earth displacement currents. The impact of the earth EM properties on the resulting modal propagation characteristics is analyzed, for different earth topologies and SC cable arrangements.
