Abstract

Competition is an essential factor in a deregulated electricity market. Most of existing metrics for identifying degree of competition developed for measuring the potential of active market power. Because of importance of security and existence of some limitations in power systems, reactive power plays an important role and may show some potentials of exercising reactive market power even if we do not have a reactive power market, but this issue is less considered. This paper presents a method for detecting individuals or groups of generators in collusion that have the potential to benefit from employing reactive market power. This method includes a new metric extracted from revenue to offer price sensitivity analysis.
