Abstract

Large scale integration of distributed generation (DG) into distribution networks that has been witnessed in recent years, brings new technical challenges in the development of distribution systems. This article deals with voltage regulation in low voltage networks with converter connected sources (e.g. PV system). It presents a decoupled current control method applied to the production of reactive power of PV generators. The aim of this control strategy is to increase the integration of PV DG into the distribution networks, which is sometimes kept quite low by distribution operators due to the inadequacy of the traditional voltage regulation system in avoiding overvoltage at the generators connection points.
