| Abstract | This paper explores the feasibility of a new PD source recognition technique that utilises passive comparison of UHF signals from an array of sensing elements to provide some information on the position and number of PD sources present. The measurement principle is based on forming phase-coherent sum and difference channels between signals from a pair of sensors. If the proposed technique proves effective, comparison of UHF signals in this way could be implemented using relatively inexpensive hardware. Its implementation may therefore be economically viable on a wider range of HV equipment than conventional UHF PD location systems. |
