Abstract

A new principle of faulty feeder detection in non-effectively earthed network using dominant transient frequency (DTF) current phase is presented in the paper. The zero modal current at DTF is extracted by Prony algorithm to select the faulty feeder. When the phase of DTF current of certain feeder is opposite to any other feeder, then this feeder is selected as faulty feeder. When the phase of DTF current of all feeders is the same direction, then the fault is on the bus bar. The presented method is the supplement and significant improvement upon the existing transient signal based detection methods.
