| Abstract | This paper describes the design, the material used, and the software and hardware computer control and measurement system used to construct the tracking wheel test facility as specified by BS EN 62217:2006-Annex A. A Data Acquisition (DAQ) card, running software routines developed on the graphical programming language LabVIEWTM platform, was used to control the motor and test timings of each of the four insulators and to acquire voltage and current data. Although not required by the standard, but for research purposes, the leakage current and applied operating voltage was measured, processed, displayed on the PC monitor and saved onto the hard disk. |
