| Abstract | This paper presents an effective control methodology for sustaining the transient frequency stability of power islands with excess of generation. This controller selects the proper generation that needs to be tripped on the event of uncontrolled disconnection of this type of areas from the rest of the system following cascading failures. The proposed case study is the Thames Estuary (a heavy generating zone in UK). Model implementation and simulation studies were conducted using Simulink. |
