Abstract

Objective of this paper is to present a model for 3-phase Gas-Insulated Lines (GIL) buried directly into single or two-layer earth. The influence of the self and mutual shunt admittance terms between the enclosures is much more intense in GIL, due to the direct contact of the enclosures to the ground. New expressions for these terms are presented. Using modal transformations, the modal propagation characteristics are calculated for various two-layer and homogeneous earth configurations. The results verify the significant contribution of earth shunt admittance terms to the modeling of GIL
