Abstract

In this paper, a combination of both capacitor placement and conductor selection methods with considering the optimization of THD is developed to reduce the loss of a distribution network. In this method the objective function of capacitor placement and conductor selection is to reduce the power loss with minimum costs. The constraints are voltage limits and conductor allowable current energy capacity of selected conductors. The new objective function minimizes the loss of a distribution network by considering optimal conductor selection, optimal capacitor placement and their economic costs as well as optimized THD. The results show a considerable development in both loss reduction and THD optimization.
