| Abstract | This paper describes electromagnetic transient studies carried out to assess potential transient switching issues on a proposed 400 kV cable circuit. The paper demonstrates how such analysis and modelling studies play an important role in the design of substations and cable networks. The modelling methodology and simulation results for the transient switching responses associated with energisation and de-energisation of the 20 km three ended 400 kV double cable circuits from St. Johns Wood to Wimbledon and Willesden via Kensal Green T-point are presented. The analysis was performed using the PSCAD-EMTDC program. |
