| Abstract | The new vehicle electric system comes up with new requirements in terms of efficiency and economical cost for electric motor design. In many countries, there are an wide interest for development of the green environment technology. So many researches are conducted to improve the hybrid electric vehicle focusing to the core technology such as in-wheel electric motor system. Several works in the literature shown the advantages the permanent magnet (PM) motors. This is due to their high efficiency, high torque density, absence of excitation currents, low vibration and noise. In this work, a three-phase superface mounted permanent magnet (SPM) synchronous motor for hybrid vehicle is analyzed by using finite element method. The purpose of this work is to study the performance of the motor, including average torque, torque ripple, torque versus speed characteristic. The in-wheel motor is designed based on the 48/16-pole topology. To verify the applicability of developed in-wheel electric motor, performance test is conducted to a similar motor. |
