Abstract

Stability is one of the main factors in power system which can be enhanced by using Power System Stabilizer (PSS). A well designed PSS will improve the stability of power system. There are a lots of research papers about PSS design for steam and hydro-power plants whereas there is almost nothing about pump-storage hydro power plant. In this paper a PSS which is suitable for pump-storage hydro power plant will be proposed. The proposed PSS will be applied on a 1000 MVA which is composed of four 250 MVA units. This power plant is connected to 230 kV network by two parallel lines. The length of each line is 15 Km. the four units are controlled by a single PSS.
